Forces de police de Géorgie

Huitième État le plus peuplé du pays, la Géorgie bénéficie d'un meilleur climat de sécurité que la moyenne nationale, alors que sa population a augmenté ces dernières années. Cependant, l'État est confronté à la violence de certains gangs dans les grandes villes, au trafic de drogues et à la délinquance. Les grandes agglomérations concentre la majorité de ces faits. 

La sécurité publique repose sur 14 422 sheriffs, 8994 policiers municipaux et 836 policiers d'État, complétés par 1684 policiers de diverses agences et 967 policiers des universités.

Le plus important service de police de Géorgie est l'Atlanta Police Department, avec 1535 policiers et 452 civils, et le plus important bureau du sheriff est le Fulton County Sheriff Department avec 746 policiers et 226 civils. 

Le renforcement des capacités d'intervention des forces de police est appuyé par le Department of Defense et la Defense Logistical Agency (DLA), qui vend du matériel militaire en surplus aux forces de l'ordre. Ainsi, les policiers et sheriffs de Géorgie ont reçu 14 blindés MRAP "Maxxpro", 11 blindés MRAP "Caïman", 3 blindés MRAP "Cougar" et 1 blindé MRAP "MATV.
