Plus grand commandement militaire de l'US Army, le Forces Command (FORSCOM) a son quartier général installé à Fort Bragg, en Caroline du Nord, dans un bâtiment de 64 103 m², d'où il supervise l'entraînement, la préparation opérationnelle et le soutien des forces d'active, de Garde Nationale ou de Réserve, représentant près de 750 000 personnels sous son autorité. 

Concernant les forces d'active, le commandement supervise 9 divisions, 1 régiment de cavalerie, 37 brigades d'appui et de nombreuses autres unités de soutien. 

Le FORSCOM contrôle également la First Army, chargée de l'entraînement des unités et qui compte 10 brigades d'entraînement équitablement réparties entre les côtes Est et Ouest. Le commandement de l'US Army Reserve est également installé dans le même quartier général de Fort Bragg et le quartier général de l'Army National Guard se trouve à Arlington, en Virginie. 

Le FORSCOM veille à ce que les soldats soient correctement entraînés, équipés et soutenus pour mener des missions de combat à l'étranger, dans des régions éloignées et avec toute la logistique nécessaire à la conduite des opérations.

Des sites d'entraînement de ce commandement se trouvent notamment à Fort Irwin (Californie) et Fort Polk (Louisiane) et le FORSCOM commande également le III Armored Corps, basé au Texas, le V Corps basé dans le Kentucky et le XVIII Airborne Corps basé en Caroline du Nord et qui représentent la majorité des moyens de combat terrestre et aéroterrestre américains.
